Christmas

Christmas saw us break the news to Paul's parents and brother that we were planning a narrowboat purchase. Paul's parents had been live aboards some years ago, and we had many years experience on hire boats. Plans were discussed and several good ideas noted for inclusion or further investigation.

Monday 19 December

We visited one prospective boat builder in the morning to see their workshop and a boat under construction. A perfectly good builder - but not quite what we wanted.

We visited a second builder in the afternoon at one of their two bases. The most expensive of all we have visited - but just what we wanted. Some decisions to be made.

Sunday 21 August

We drove to Silsden to collect Hum Drum, the wide boat we are using for the fortnight's cruise of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. After a warm welcome and an exceptionally quick handover we head off towards Liverpool.

Two weeks later we return the boat safely to Silsden after visiting both Liverpool and Leeds, and covering the three branches.
