Using iPhones/iPads with the Memory-Map application

 Memory Map for iPhonesWe have seen the Memory-Map Application being used with my Cruising Maps on an iPhone (by our son and daughter who both have iPhones) but we have not personally tested this.
You will need to:
> Download and install the Memory-Map Application (if you don't already have it installed)
> Download and install our Cruising Maps in Memory-Map (qct) format |
Download and install the Memory-Map Application If you already have the Memory-Map Application (enabled for the import of third pary maps) installed on your iPhone/iPad then you can skip steps 1 and 2.
Step 1. You must check with Memory-Map to see which versions of their application, and any additional cost options, are required. We cannot advise you on their applications.
Step 2. Install the Memory-Map application according the their instructions. The software is provided by Memory-Map and you should seek help from them if you have any problems installing their application and getting it to work.

Download and Install the Cruising Maps in qct format Memory-Map are frequently revising their application - these instructions worked at the time we tested them - please let us know if they no longer work because Memory-Map have changed something.
Step 3. Please test our FREE Droitwich Canals Map. work on your device(s) before purchasing any of our maps.
You may transfer the Cruising Maps in qct format from your computer to your iPhone using one of these methods. Please note that some versions of the Memory-Map application only work with one of these versions.
> Transfer to iPhone/iPad using WiFi (Step 4A), or
> Transfer to iPhone/iPad uisng iTunes and USB connection (Step 4B)

 Step 4A. Transfer to iPhone/iPad using WiFi (or use step 4B for iTunes and USB connection)
a. Connect your iphone/iPad to the same wifi network as the computer you are using.
b. Within the Memory-Map application click the folder icon in the bottom left [Photo - Top Right] then press 'more maps' in the top right corner and choose 'add maps via wifi'. [Photo - Right]
c. The screen that pops up will show you the iphone's/iPad's IP address which will look something like http://192.168.0.2:9001 - enter this exactly as it appears into the address bar of your web browser.
d. From the page that appears use the browse button to select the free Droitwich Canals Cruising Map in qct format file from wherever you saved it on your computer.
e. Press the upload button and wait a moment while it transfers.
f. When the file has uploaded you will return to the maps page (click on the folder icon again if you have returned to the map display) which should show your new map on the list (The name of the map begins WR.....) Press on the title of the map to display it.
g. If your map isn't on the list and you can only see the default OS Streetview map don't worry. Click again on the 'more maps' button and choose 'all maps on device' [Photo - Right]
h. Still no luck? Then press 'map types' from the map list page then press 'show all'. |
 Step 4B. Transfer to iPhone/iPad using iTunes and USB connection (or use step 4A for WiFi connection)
a. If you don't have a wifi network or are having problems with method 4A you can upload the map directly from itunes.
b. Connect your iphone via the usb cable and wait a few moments for the iPhone/iPad to automatically synchronise with itunes.
c. Next select your phone from the menu down the left hand side of the itunes screen, this will display your phones details on screen. [Photo - Right]
d. Choose the 'Apps' button from the top of the right hand window which will show an image of your phone display and a list of the installed applications.
e. Scroll to the bottom of this page to the section titled 'File Sharing'
f. Select memory map from the list which will display a list of the files currently on the phone on the right hand side.
g. Choose the Add button and select the free Droitwich Canals Cruising Map in qct format file from wherever you saved it on your computer.
h. Now press the 'sync' button in the bottom right to upload the file. The progress of the upload is displayed at the top of your screen.
i. Disconnect your phone and open the memory maps application
j. Click on the folder icon in the bottom left of the screen which should show your new map on the list (The name of the map begins WR.....) Press on the title of the map to display it.
k. If your map isn't on the list and you can only see the default OS Streetview map don't worry. Click on the 'more maps' button in the top right of the screen and choose 'all maps on device' [Photo - above Right]
l. Still no luck? Then press 'map types' from the map list page then press 'show all'.

Step 5. Once you are happy the free Droitwich Canals Cruising Maps work on your device(s) you can purchase and download any of the maps from our website and repeat the earlier steps to use them.
Step 6. Keep it backed up - although I'm sure you were going to do that anyway. |
