MAP Updates and Upgrades

Master Map

Master Map

I draw a single large map for England & Wales, and another for Scotland. These include all the waterways I have mapped so far, and the coverage is extended from time to time.

I keep these maps updated when I hear of changes and I am often cruising or cycling along the waterways to check the information is still up to date.

I appreciate feedback from users who also tell me of changes. If this information is precise enough and, ideally, accompanied by photos, I can put it straight onto the map. If it's vague I can still arrange to visit the location to obtain the precise information before adding it onto the map.

Please remember I only show permanent changes to the maps. I don't show short term changes such as winter stoppages when a lock is closed for a few weeks for maintenance.

You can benefit from the latest maps by updating (the same map) or upgrading (to a better map) as described below.
Updates

Updates

Updates are where you get a newer version of a map you have already purchased.

Our maps are updated whenever we become aware of a change. Sometimes this is just a week after the previous update, and sometimes it can be over a year between updates. This is unlike printed maps from others which can go out of date as soon as they are printed and may be several years out of date when you buy them.

When you buy your maps from us you get a year of cost price updates, that's the original map plus the next 11 monthly updates, then a discount on updates during years two to five.

During your first year of ownership you can ask for:-
> A new link to download the latest copy of individual maps. There is no charge for this.
> A new copy by post on CD/DVD. There is a charge of £1 plus postage for this.

During years two to five we make a charge for an updated map, to recognise the efforts we make to keep the maps up to date. We will give you a discount on the current selling price of:-
> 80% of the price you originally paid - for an update requested during year 2 of ownership
> 60% of the price you originally paid - for an update requested during year 3 of ownership
> 40% of the price you originally paid - for an update requested during year 4 of ownership
> 20% of the price you originally paid - for an update requested during year 5 of ownership
> No discount from year 6 of ownership onwards.

We measure the year(s) of ownership as being 12 issues, that's the original issue plus the next 11 months counting as the first year. For example, if you purchase the May 2016 issue the year of cost price updates will finish with the April 2017 issue, and the second year will finishe with the April 2018 issue etc.

Once you pay (more than the cost price) for an update the clock starts again with a further year of cost price updates and further years of discounts.

To obtain your update then please email your request to info@waterwayroutes.co.uk with enough information for me to identify you original order:-
> If you purchased mail order:- then your name, address, postcode (and date or order number if possible)
> If you purchased in person (at a show or from our boat):- then the serial number from the CD/DVD and the approximate date and place of purchase (and receipt number if possible).

I will email you a new download link or a request for payment as appropriate. This is a manual process and may take a few days, although it is often the same day.

Please note: The England & Wales maps are too large to download and these are supplied on a data DVD.
Upgrades

Upgrades

Upgrades are where you trade up to a larger or better map at a discounted price.

Sometimes your needs change or, perhaps you like our maps so much you would now like more maps.

You can upgrade from:
> the Acrobat (pdf) to the Memory-Map (qct) version of the same map
> an individual map (or maps) to the England & Wales map

During your first year of ownership this will be at the difference in price.

During years two to five we make a gradually increasing charge. We will discount the price of the map you are upgrading to by:
> 80% of the price you originally paid - for an upgrade requested during year 2 of ownership
> 60% of the price you originally paid - for an upgrade requested during year 3 of ownership
> 40% of the price you originally paid - for an upgrade requested during year 4 of ownership
> 20% of the price you originally paid - for an upgrade requested during year 5 of ownership

We measure the year(s) of ownership to the end of the month so, for example, if you purchase a map on 15 May 2012 you can choose a difference in price upgrade until 31 May 2013, then 80% discount until 31 May 2014 etc.

Once you pay for an upgrade the clock starts again with a further year of difference in price upgrades and further years of discounts.

I will email you a quotation and request for payment. Please note this is a manual process and may take a few days, although it is often the same day.

Please note: The England & Wales maps are too large to download and these are supplied on a data DVD.
