Fixed Railway Bridge

Now fixed too low for navigation the former swing railway bridge will be one of the more difficult problems to tackle during restoration of the canal.  This is for the freight only railway line carrying the heavy coal trains to Fiddler’s Ferry Power Station.

Raising the bridge is impracticable and reinstating this as an opening bridge, either lifting or swinging, will be expensive and difficult.
