Three volunteers are “supervising” as another works hard to wind the bottom gate open on Castle Mills Lock ready for our Waterway Routes narrowboat to ascend.

Castle Mills Lock is so wide we only need to open one gate part way for our Waterway Routes narrowboat to enter.

We’ve just entered Castle Mills Lock on the River Foss in York, which is being operated by IWA (inland Waterways Association) volunteers for us.
